About Our Name

Our company takes its name from the character of Calpurnia in Harper Lee’s classic, “To Kill A Mockingbird.” Calpurnia works tirelessly behind the scenes to support her family’s goals and aspirations. She listens. She is fair and objective. She bridges the gap between very different worlds and she offers unfailingly honest feedback and wise advice.

Calpurnia is one of the book’s many symbols of treating all people with dignity and respect, which is among our company’s most deeply held values. As the novel’s mother figure, Calpurnia’s name is consistent with our social mission of supporting working mothers and helping them do exceptional work—for both their clients and their families.
